The delicious details

Since 1999, De Veldkeuken has cooked and baked with organic produce from the land around it, on the historic Amelisweerd estate just outside Bunnik. The kitchen is entirely vegetarian and certified fully organic.

Vegetables come mainly from two neighbouring gardens, the biodynamic Amelis'Hof and the organic De Volle Grond, and the harvest sets what reaches the plate. An in-house bakery turns out sourdough, tarts and quiches, while the estate orchard supplies fruit for homemade jams and apple juice.

Days run from morning coffee to lunch, with a three-course harvest dinner from spring to autumn and a terrace beside the Kromme Rijn. Walkers passing through the estate are always welcome to stop by.

Menu

What is on the table

A fully vegetarian kitchen with vegan options throughout, built around estate-harvest ingredients. The three-course Oogstdiner changes every few weeks; daytime service runs to soups, quiches and open sandwiches. In-house bakery produces sourdough and tarts; apple juice is pressed from the orchard.

The menu is completely vegetarian, with vegan dishes available throughout, and carries the Lekker Vega Gold mark. Cooking follows the estate harvest: the three-course Oogstdiner changes roughly every three weeks around what the gardens provide, and daytime service runs to soups, quiches and open sandwiches.

The kitchen prepares its own sourdough, tarts, jams and chutneys at the estate bakery rather than buying them in, and presses apple juice from the orchard's own fruit.
